Slumber Party Before HOW100 at Miss Sweeney's Inn

We have the perfect opportunity for a group of women wanting to make Hope on Wheels a spectacular girls weekend! We have received a generous contribution of the use of Miss Sweeney's Inn for the night of September 5th. The Inn is located in beautiful historic Leiper's Fork, just minutes off the Natchez Trace and the starting point of the Hope on Wheels ride. The use of the home will be awarded to the winner of an auction to be held the week of July 14th.

New! Hope on Wheels Training Rides - Beginners

As we move further into summer, we will schedule some specific Hope on Wheels training rides in the beautiful heels surrounding Leiper's Fork, Tennessee. At this point in the schedule we would like to inform you of a Beginner Ride Series that might help you if you are new to cycling.

New! A Dedicated Team Has an Even Greater Focus for 2008

Team Buckspan was one of the larger teams in our inaugural year and set the standard in uniting friends and coworkers to train and fundraising together to fight breast cancer. On Saturday, September 6, Team Buckspan will again be participating in the HOW100, but this year the team will have a very personal reason to support this worthy cause.

Tandems Allow Teamwork in Riding to Find a Cure!!

Local tandem teams are registering their woman riders as they plan to "work together" to ride for a cure. Men find this to be a great way to get in on the fun. Men do ride the HOW100 when they are a working member of a tandem team!

HOW on T.V.

WKRN health reporter Lori Mitchell is a newly committed rider for this year's Hope on Wheels ride. We are so excited that the special nature of the HOW100 has peaked Lori's interest in cycling for a cure. Lori is an accomplished runner but is ready to accept the challenges of distance cycling to ride in honor of her mother who is a breast cancer survivor.

A Rider's View of the 2007 HOW

We think the HOW100 is the best ride ever, but it's even better to have a rider confirm that. Read an e-mail received before we even collected all of our road signs...

Our Top 2007 Fundraiser

We are very proud to recognize our top fundraiser for the 2007 Hope on Wheels, Shirley Fuller Cooper. You may recognize Shirley's name as the top fundraiser for the past two years. Yes, that's right -Shirley has been our top fundraiser for three years in a row!

Our Top 2007 Fundraising Team

Our top team fundraising prize went to the Momentum Cycling Club, who collectively raised more than $10,000 for breast cancer research. After watching the women finish their ride we would also like to award them the Most Spirited.

New! Your Lifestyle, Your Genes, And Cancer

Our friends at Newsweek ran an article recently that very succinctly gives each of us a reason to find some form of physical exercise that we can be passionate about (of course, we think of cycling). In Newsweek's Health for Life section, an article highlights research showing that we can avoid 70% of all cancers if we grow thinner, exercise regularly, avoid diets rich in red meat and eat diets rich in fruits and vegetables, and stopped using tobacco. We like those odds!
