A Few of the MPCF Women

Resource Center and Oncology Social Work Services
The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation’s Resource Center library offers a treasure of cancer-related materials. Our lending library is stocked with an updated selection of educational and inspirational books, magazines, pamphlets, and audiovisual materials as well as computer access to bookmarked Internet cancer sites for research on up-to-date cancer information. Our oncology social workers are on staff each day to address concerns and to answer questions about cancer and its prevention, detection, and screening recommendations.  Come by for a visit at 310 25th Avenue North, Suite 103, or contact them by phone (467-1936 x 101) or e-mail (socialworker@minniepearl.org).  As always, our services and programs are free of charge.
Nutritional Consultations and Recommendations
Scientists estimate that 30%-40% of all cancers could be prevented by eating a healthy diet, getting regular physical activity, and maintaining a healthy weight. Our Registered Dietitian is available daily for nutritional consultations to discuss the relevance of diet and cancer prevention.  Believing “He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything,” Kimberly Petersen, R.D., at The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation is dedicated to wellness and good nutrition.  Come by for a visit at 310 25th Avenue North, Suite 103, or contact her by phone (467-1936 x 102) or e-mail (kpetersen@minniepearl.org).  to talk about the latest in nutritional findings as they relate to cancer prevention.
Mammogram Program
The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation offers free screening and diagnostic mammograms to women who are underinsured or uninsured through the Kroger “Giving Hope A Hand” Pink Tag campaign. This program has provided critical, life-saving screening for women (to date, over 350 women) who would otherwise be unable to receive mammography services.  Contact our oncology social workers (socialworkers@minniepearl.org) for more information.
Transportation Assistance
The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation offers transportation assistance to those breast cancer patients in Tennessee whose travel for treatment poses financial hardship.  This transportation assistance is available through generous funding from the Greater Nashville Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and from the Tennessee Breast Cancer Control Coalition.
